4 Reasons the United States is an Attractive Study Abroad Location for Foreign Scholars

Culture. The United States is an attractive destination for scholars from all over the world. Major cities like New York City, San Francisco, and Boston attract global students interested in exploring American food, art, and people.

Exposure to Western Ideas and Business Practices. Eastern nations, specifically China, often send students to learn of ideas and business practices that are different than the norms of their home countries.

Top Academic Institutions. The U.S. offers academically challenging universities that out perform universities in some of the nations that send scholars to America. Ivy League institutions are particularly popular for these scholars.

Marketing and Recruitment. U.S. universities and private organizations partner with compulsory schools abroad to attract scholars during their undergraduate or graduate studies.

  1. As a foreign student here at South Alabama I could totally relate to this story, I know exactly the reasons why those students are coming abroad to study here. America is still seen as the largest economic power and most young people across the world see an opportunity to make their american dream come true. The only setback would be the price of this education as university is free in France I would never have came here if it was not for the scholarship offer to play tennis.

    1. Shayann, I was not aware that university is free in France. Very progressive. I agree with your comments about what attracts students to study in the U.S. I'm happy you are enjoying America.

  2. I can also relate to this article as most of my teammates are coming from across the world (Europe, South America etc.). After talking to them many times I believe. It is always funny to me how the grass is always greener on the other side. I always ask them why they would come here when some of my teammates are from Rome or Berlin. But they explain me that it is the same thing for them and that people in Europe are amazed by america and want to visit it because they believe it's amazing

  3. Essence, when I think about studying abroad, I always focus on where I would want to go and all of the great places outside of the United States. It's amazing to think that there are students out there fantasizing about coming to where we live to learn when we are sometimes desperate to get out ourselves! As for Shayann's comment, I also had NO idea university is free in France! That seems unbelievable for me but the idea for free access to education sounds wonderful. I think the U.S. is a great place for students to come study abroad... we are the Great American Melting Pot after all!
